A renowned process to create plastic prototype is vacuum
casting . The original model laying in a
box is poured with a liquid polyurethane
casting. By this method, a flexible silicone form, the soft mould has been
created.
In a mixer, the final components are thoroughly mixed and
then given as a reaction mass in the vacuum chamber in the silicone forms of
reproduction. The curing takes place in the form itself and the vacuum is used
to prevent the formation from air bubbles.
It is a very quick and inexpensive copying method for
functional prototypes and is preferred for the production of molded
polyurethane for example in the electronics and maritime industry.
